A "Goldyn" Maternity Session - Cambria Heights New York

Happy New Year Folks!

Let me first start off by saying many blessings, love, peace, and prosperity to you! I pray this year is better than last and elevates you to a better place. Now let’s get into this maternity session! I photographed the soon to be mom Kameeka years ago for my first exhibit entitled “Captured Curls” and then again at Curlfest 2019 where we had time to catch up. She told me that she and her fiancé were expecting! And that she would reach to me about setting up a maternity shoot.

A couple of months went by and Kameeka contacted me about her maternity session! As I do with all my clients we had a pre-shoot consultation. We talked about her goals for the shoot, what she envisioned, time frame for completed photos. We also talked about her hair, makeup wardrobe and poses. Kameeka mentioned that she wanted part of her session to take place outside and the other in the studio. I said cool…. You know it’s cold in NYC in November right?!? A lot of clients want outdoor shoots until the cold hits them. I want to make sure you have the best experience and images possible. If you want to shoot outside you have to be committed, LOL. Because we can’t leave until we get the shot. Kameeka was committed! The weeks leading up the shoot it was sunny and kinda warm. The day of Kameeka’s shoot it was freezing!

La’Tasha Richards of Rich Beauty did Kameeka’s makeup afterwards we met at a nearby park and got to work. Kameeka shed her coat revealing the cutest baby bump. It was cold she was cold but she didn’t let it show. I constantly asked if she was ok and suggested that she take to some to get warm by putting her coat back on and snuggling with her fiancé George. I’ve shot several maternity sessions, engagement sessions, and weddings. The love, joy, and excitement that exuded from Kameeka and George during this session was contagious. I think we spent more time laughing.

See I told you! They are the cutest couple ever!

After the outdoor portion of the session. We packed up and headed for my home studio. Back at my place, I offered the soon to be parents a cups of tea. We chatted momentarily and got back to work! I’m in love with these photos. I think it’s the way the hand-painted background brings out their complexion. Just love! These two are going to be excellent to their baby girl Goldyn! Check out the rest of the session below! Let me know what you think in the comments!

XOXO- Nicole
